Born in Istanbul in 1969, Genco Gülan is an artist and theorist who describes all of the conceptual works of contemporary art such as painting, sculpture, performance and new media as “intellectual art.”
He studied Political Science and Art at Boğaziçi University and received his master’s Degree in “new media” from New School in New York. His works were exhibited in many important exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. He is currently a lecturer at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts and Boğaziçi University. By using many different styles and environments, he exhibits his work exploring our fragmented reality.
He has been involved in many important exhibitions and festivals both in Turkey and abroad, and has served as the art director of Web Biennial 2003, the Advisory Board of Thessaloniki Balkan Biennial, a member of the Board of Directors of Kosmopolis 2004, and as an advisorbthr Alternative Museum of New York City. And, finally, he published his book titled “Conceptual Colors”.
