Yapı Kredi Culture and Art is hosting the exhibition titled “Thresholds” by world – famous artist Mat Collishaw between May 15 and July 29, 2018. Now on a World Tour, the first exhibition took place at Somerset House in London in 2017 and has now come to Istanbul.
“Thresholds” takes the audience on a journey in time to the world’s first photography exhibition by opening its door to world’s first photographic print exhibition by the British scientist William Henry Fox Talbot in Birmingham in 1839 at King Edward’s School. Visitors are stepping into a digital, three-dimensional building through this door. They navigate freely in space; they touch the Windows, objects and surfaces reconstructed digitally. Collishaw also carries the voices and images of the Chartist workers, who were rioting during the opening of the 1839 photography exhibition. One of the most pleasant surprises of the exhibition is the play of infrared sensors on the images of the visitors.
